Editing and Formatting of Worksheet

Editing and formatting a worksheet is an important aspect of working with MS Excel. 

To edit and format data in Microsoft Excel, follow these steps:
  • Open Microsoft Excel and open the workbook that you want to edit.
  • Select the cell or range of cells that you want to edit.
  • To change the font, font size, font style, or font color of the selected cell or range of cells, go to the Home tab in the Ribbon and use the Font group. You can select a font from the drop-down menu, change the font size, apply bold, italic, or underline formatting, or change the font color.
  • To change the cell's background color or add borders, go to the Home tab in the Ribbon and use the Cells group. You can select a background color from the drop-down menu, apply a border style, change the border color, or add diagonal lines.
  • To align the text in the cell or range of cells, go to the Home tab in the Ribbon and use the Alignment group. You can align the text horizontally or vertically, wrap text, or merge cells.
  • To format numbers or dates, select the cell or range of cells and go to the Home tab in the Ribbon. Use the Number group to format the cell as currency, percentage, or a specific date format.
  • To edit the contents of a cell, double-click on the cell or press F2 to enter edit mode. You can then make changes to the text or formula in the cell.
  • To copy and paste cells, select the cells you want to copy, press Ctrl+C, then select the cell where you want to paste the copied cells and press Ctrl+V.
  • To undo or redo changes, go to the Home tab in the Ribbon and use the Undo or Redo buttons in the Quick Access Toolbar.
Other basic steps for editing and formatting a workbook:

Editing:
  • To edit a cell, simply click on the cell and type in your new content.
  • To move the content of a cell to another location, select the cell and drag it to the new location.
  • To delete the content of a cell, select the cell and press the delete key.
Formatting:
  • To format a cell, select the cell or cells that you want to format.
  • To change the font, size, or color of the text in the cell, use the font options in the Home tab of the ribbon.
  • To change the color or pattern of the background of the cell, use the fill options in the Home tab of the ribbon.
  • To change the alignment of the text in the cell, use the alignment options in the Home tab of the ribbon.
  • To add borders or shading to the cell, use the border and shading options in the Home tab of the ribbon.
  • To format numbers, use the number format options in the Home tab of the ribbon. You can choose from a variety of number formats, such as currency, date, time, percentage, and scientific notation.
  • To merge cells or split merged cells, use the merge and center options in the Home tab of the ribbon.
  • To add comments to a cell, select the cell and click on the "Review" tab in the ribbon. Then click on the "New Comment" button to add your comment.
