Selections, Photoshop 7
Photoshop 7, released in 2002, introduced several features and enhancements related to selections. Here are some key aspects of selections in Photoshop 7:
- Marquee Tools: Photoshop 7 introduced improved marquee selection tools, including the Rectangular Marquee Tool and the Elliptical Marquee Tool. These tools allow you to create selections in the shape of rectangles or ellipses, respectively.
- Lasso Tools: The Lasso Tool in Photoshop 7 allows you to make freehand selections by dragging the cursor around the desired area. Additionally, Photoshop 7 introduced the Polygonal Lasso Tool, which enables you to create selections with straight edges by clicking around the object.
- Magic Wand Tool: The Magic Wand Tool in Photoshop 7 is a powerful selection tool that selects pixels based on their color and tonal values. You can click on an area of the image, and the Magic Wand Tool will select similar pixels within a certain tolerance range.
- Quick Mask Mode: Quick Mask Mode in Photoshop 7 allows you to create and edit selections using a temporary mask overlay. By entering Quick Mask Mode, you can use painting tools to refine or modify selections with ease.
- Selection Feathering: Photoshop 7 introduced the Feather command, which allows you to soften the edges of a selection. Feathering can help blend a selected area with its surroundings for a more natural appearance.
- Selective Color Range: Photoshop 7 introduced the Selective Color Range feature, which lets you make selections based on specific color ranges within an image. This tool is useful for isolating and manipulating specific colors or objects.
- Selection Modification: In Photoshop 7, you can modify selections using various commands such as Add to Selection, Subtract from Selection, Intersect with Selection, and Feather Selection. These options give you more control over refining and adjusting your selections.
Remember that Photoshop 7 is an older version, and newer versions of Photoshop, like Photoshop CC, offer more advanced selection tools and features.
