Image Size and Resolution

Image Size and Resolution

In Adobe Photoshop 7, you can adjust both the image size and resolution of your project. Here's how you can do it:

To change the Size:

  • Open your image in Photoshop 7.
  • To change the image size, go to the "Image" menu at the top of the screen and select "Image Size." A dialog box will appear.
  • In the dialog box, you'll see options to adjust the width and height of the image. You can change the values manually or choose a different unit of measurement from the drop-down menu (e.g., pixels, inches, centimeters).
  • Make sure the "Constrain Proportions" checkbox is checked to maintain the aspect ratio of the image while resizing. If you want to change the aspect ratio, you can uncheck this option.
  • Once you've entered the desired dimensions, click "OK" to apply the changes.

To change the resolution:

  • Go to the "Image" menu and select "Image Size" as mentioned above.
  • In the same dialog box, you'll find the "Resolution" field. This determines the number of pixels per inch (PPI) in the image.
  • Enter the desired resolution value in the field. For print projects, a resolution of 300 PPI is commonly used, while for web or screen use, a lower resolution like 72 PPI is sufficient.
  • Ensure that the "Resample Image" checkbox is checked. This allows you to change the resolution without altering the pixel dimensions of the image.
  • Click "OK" to apply the changes.

Remember, adjusting the resolution does not affect the overall pixel dimensions of the image but determines the output size when printing or displaying the image. Resizing the image dimensions, on the other hand, affects both the pixel dimensions and resolution.
