Plotter

Plotter

Plotter is a special output device used to produce hard copies of large graphs and designs on paper. It is used in CAD (Computer-aided design) and CAM (Computer-aided manufacturing) for the production of engineering drawings, construction maps, and business charts, etc.
Types of plotter

Plotter comes in different varieties and these are

Drum plotter-Drum plotter is a pen plotter that wraps the paper around a drum with a pen feed attachment and drum rotates the paper as the pen moves across it and draws the image. It is used to print graphics and large engineering drawings.

Flatbed plotter-A flatbed plotter is a mechanical drafting device used with many CAD (Computer-aided design) programs for designers. In this device, paper remains on a flat surface while a pen moves across it horizontally and vertically. This type of plotter uses different pen colours to create graphics.

Inkjet plotter-Inkjet plotter creates an image by spraying small droplets of ink on to a paper, and this type of plotter is a popular choice for advertising agencies and graphic designers. These plotters are used to print banners, billboards and large signs often seen along roadsides. These plotters produce better quality graphics than other plotters.
Cutting plotter-Cutting plotter is a large-scale cutting device that produces ready cut mylar or vinyl letters and graphics. It contains automated knives that cut a sheet of the material laying on the plotter’s surface according to design stored in the attached computer. Using this plotter vehicle graphics, signs, logos can be created.
