Through Broadband connection- Broadband internet connection is faster than dial-up connection because their signal carry much more data into our home and onto our computer the dial-up connection. Broadband connection speed is measured in Mbps.
Through Wireless connection- These days we can also connect to internet wirelessly. There are two most common ways to connect to internet wirelessly.

World Wide Web(WWW)- From the late 1960's to the early 1990's the internet was used for academic and military purposes. This changed radically with the introduction of www in 1989 the www is a set of programs, standards and protocols in which multimedia file, text, photographic, video, audio are created and displayed in the internet. Before www internet was mainly used for obtaining textual information.

Multimedia document- Information on the web which may be graphics, audio, video, animation & text www supports these multimedia elements and using www we can create, link or display these multimedia webpages.
Hypertext and hyperlink- Also www supports hyper text files and hyperlinks.
Interactive- www supports many interactive tools such as input boxes, radio buttons, check boxes, text boxes etc.
Frames- www also supports frames. Frame is the display of more than one independently controllable section on single web page.
Web browser-Web browser is a www client that navigates through the www or provide interface to interact with the internet. There are two types of browsers-
- Text only browser- Lynx is a browser that provide access to the web in text-only mode.
- Graphical browser- By using graphical browser we can retrieve text, image, audio, video and animation files. some examples of graphical browsers are- Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape navigator and Chrome etc.
Web site-Web site is a location on a web server is called web site.
Web page-The documents residing on web sites are called web pages.
Home page-It is the top level web page of a web site when a web site is opened its home page is displayed.
Web portal-Web portal has hyperlinks to many other web sites. By clicking upon these links the cross ponding web sites can be opened. There are some examples of web portal such as www.google.com, www.yahoo.com
Web address and URL-Location on a net server is called a web site. Each web site has a unique address called URL(Uniform resource locater e.g. http://www.microsoft.com is a web site. HTTP uses internet addresses in a special format such as:
Type://Address/Path
Where Type specify the type of server, Address specify path of the server and Path is the location of file on the server.
There we have two naming systems of addressing server-
i. DNS(Domain name system) ii) Number system
DNS(Domain name system)-DNS is a character based naming system by which server are identifies.
Some e.g. of domain name system are com, org, gov, and edu etc.
Number System- Number naming system are based on numbers.
e.g. 203.127.54.9
Such address systems are called IP address
HTTP-HTTP is an access method used on internet. It is the primary access method for interacting with internet and http generally works in combination with www.
Intranet- An Intranet is network that exists exclusively with in an organization and that is based on Internet technology and it is private network.
